Every Kid Outdoors Program - 4th Grade Pass

About a month into the last school year we learned about the Every Kid Outdoors program which provides 4th grade students with a free annual pass to national parks, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, and forests across the country. We had always talked about seeing more national parks, and we had already visited a few with the boys, but this really inspired us to be more intentional about planning trips that included visiting them.

Your fourth grader can get their pass by visiting the Every Kid Outdoors website and completing the form. The short form acts like an activity where your student gets to plan a trip. Once he/she is done, you enter your zip code and then print your pass.

A couple of things to know about the pass:

  • It is for U.S. fourth-graders.

  • It is good for the 4th grade school year and expires the following August 31.

  • The fourth grader can bring siblings under 16 and up to three adults with them for free.

  • It may not cover costs associated with parking, camping, boats, and special tours

  • It is non-transferable.

  • You must print out your student’s paper pass to exchange for a card at a participating park.

Please make sure you review the official rules and instructions.
