Earth Experience - Murfreesboro, TN
The boys and I were looking for some new “staycation” adventures this summer, and after a little crowd-sourcing with my local moms, we learned about Earth Experience in Murfreesboro, TN (about 30 miles southeast of Nashville). This hands-on museum is quite literally packed with rocks, fossils, gems, minerals, dinosaur bones and unique archeological relics from both Tennessee and around the world.
The boys had a blast using the virtual reality app to see what the prehistoric animals would have looked like in 3D, and they loved being able to touch dinosaur bones, petrified wood, rocks and minerals. We found the glow in the dark rocks fascinating. It was also really cool to see a real working paleontology lab, and of course the biggest thrill (pun intended) was meeting Frank, the resident 38-foot-long T-Rex.
There are a couple of things that I loved most about Earth Experience. First, the ticket prices are super affordable. When we went (Aug 2023), admission for an adult was $9, children ages 4-11 were $7, and children under 3 were free! The second thing I really liked was the sheer amount of things to see and touch and do. A family could easily go back to Earth Experience multiple times and not see and do everything!
So, whether you are from the area and looking for something fun and different to do like us, or you are visiting the Nashville area, make sure you add this one to your list!
