I have been trying for quite a while to find a way to pack for my kids, so their luggage doesn’t look like they dumped on the floor and threw everything back in on day 2 of our trip. After some trial and error, I think I have found a method that works for us.

In this day and age of Venmo, Cash App, and Apple Pay, cash is becoming more and more obsolete. This can make tipping while traveling difficult. I have embarrassingly been caught in situations where I had no cash and no other option for tipping.

So, my first and most important advice is add “get cash” to your pre-trip “to do list.” And not just cash - make sure you have plenty of smaller bills. I recently spent way too much time trying to find a place to break a $20, so I could tip our valet.

Depending on where we are going, how we are getting there and what time of year it is, these lists vary here and there. But for the most part, these are my staples! This is such a simple travel tip, I have no idea why it took me so long to figure it out. And, at least for our family, it addresses two annoying little travel annoyances with one solution.

Tips for Traveling during a Holiday Weekend
